US Letter, landscape, prints in black and white.

What's on the sheet

Game details: team, opponent, date, location and statkeeper. Score by period for both teams, team fouls by quarter, and timeouts by half.

15 player rows and a totals row, with these columns. For what each stat means, see the basketball stats guide.

How to use it

  1. Before tip-off, fill in the header and copy numbers and names from the official scorebook.
  2. Put a tally mark in the right cell each time something happens. Turn tallies into numbers at each break.
  3. For shots, write makes on the left of the dash and attempts on the right. A miss only adds to attempts.
  4. After the final buzzer, add each column for the totals row. Check the points total against the scoreboard.

Print two copies if you keep both teams. There is no team row: every rebound and turnover goes to a player. New to the job? Start with how to keep basketball stats.

Prefer to speak it?

Filling in a sheet means looking down at the paper while the game keeps going. With HoopReads you call the play out loud and watch the box score fill in. It records the same stats from what you say, with minutes and +/- when you track lineups.

“James misses the three, Carter offensive rebound, puts it back”
  • #23 · three missed +1
  • #3 · offensive rebound +1
  • #3 · two made +1
“Marcus takes the charge”
  • #5 · charge taken +1
