Privacy Policy

This policy describes how HoopReads ("we", "us") handles your information when you use hoopreads.com or the HoopReads iOS app.

What we collect

Account information. Your name and email address, provided when you create an account. Authentication is handled by Clerk.
Voice recordings and transcriptions. When you narrate a game, your speech is transcribed so it can become stats. In the iOS app, transcription can happen on your device; in cloud mode, audio is sent to our servers and processed to produce a transcript, then used to derive stat events.
Team and game content. Teams, rosters, player names, sessions, observations, and stats you create are stored on our servers so your data is available across devices.
Scorebook photos. When you build a roster from a photo of the official scorebook, the photo is sent to our servers and read to extract player numbers and names. You check the result before anything saves, and the photo is not kept.

How we use it

To provide the product: turning your narration into live box scores and your scorebook photos into rosters.
To operate your account, sync your data, and provide support.

HoopReads does not take payments today, so we collect no payment information. We do not sell your data, use it for third-party advertising, or track you across other companies' apps and websites.

Service providers

We rely on a small set of processors to run HoopReads: Clerk (authentication), our hosting and database providers, and speech-to-text and language-model services used to transcribe narration, read scorebook photos and derive stats. Each receives only what it needs to perform its function.

Data retention and deletion

Your content is retained while your account is active. You can delete your account at any time from your account settings in the HoopReads iOS app (Settings, then your account) or on hoopreads.com. Deleting your account removes it and its associated data from our servers. You can also request deletion by emailing us; we will delete it within 30 days.

Children

HoopReads is a tool for coaches and is not directed at children under 13. Player names entered by a coach are the coach's responsibility and are visible only within that coach's team. For details, see Youth data privacy.
